RAID Data Recovery (NAS, SAN, IBM, HP, DROBO)

Many of our customers suffer problems with RAID arrays when one drive fails leaving the system in a degraded state, still functional but not “redundant”. Additional minor issues (like 1 bad block) can lead to a fully degraded state. After a reboot the controller may be able to mount all drives again but the data won’t be 100% integral (in good condition). You will often see some damaged files or lost databases entries etc.

Any rebuild or initialization process of an array in a degraded state can potentially destroy data, chances are that other disks are also functioning in a degraded state with a high degree of complete failure when they are taxed during a rebuild process. Initiating a rebuild in this state is not recommended. Imaging the functional disks and performing a manual rebuild is safest way to ensure the integrity of your data.
