HOW TO AVOID BEING HIJACKED ONLINE!

When your PC no longer listens to you and instead takes you where it wants to go, not where you asked it to take you on the Internet, “You Have Been High jacked”

This is one of the most annoying events anyone can experience while trying to access the Internet and find important information.

What happened and how can one avoid it?

The most common way to get “hijacked” is to download a program, (even a legitimate one).  What you may not realize is that during the acceptance process, you are being asked to say yes about a dozen times.  READ THESE QUESTIONS VERY CAREFULLY!

Often, you are being asked to accept the download of other unrelated programs.  Often these other “Rogue Programs” are not related to the original program you wanted to  download and you end up having your PC controlled by unscrupulous programmers who take you to “Coupon Web Sites” or Sites that want to sell you something.  Especially Sites that now want to fix your “broken PC”.  Even worse, some of these companies install a “cookie” on your PC which allows them to access your computer any time they wish and hold your data hostage, “Cryptolocker”.

If you are Tech savvy, you can attempt to perform an uninstall through Windows Program/Features, “Uninstall” within Control Panel, but often these programs contain hidden files and make that virtually impossible.  When this happens, you can call us nerdcore computers service centre and our expert team are based in Australia, all of which are Windows and MAC Certified will have to run a series of passes with a variety of diagnostic software programs in an attempt to remove these malicious programs.  In the worst of cases, our Certified Technicians will have to go into the Windows Registry and remove files one at a time until the program is weak enough to allow a removal through the Uninstall Feature in control Panel.

The bottom line is this:

Do Not Download Anything unless you know and trust its source.  Please read each prompt before clicking “YES”!

These Rouge Programs pay the legitimate Companies money each time they are downloaded from the initial legitimate download.  Whether you realize it or not, this same event is occurring when you buy a new PC and you often end up downloading a bunch of programs that you don’t need which slow down your PC during what you thought was a mandatory set-up of your new computer.
